How to get your CSCS Card

A CSCS card is a necessity for many people to be able to carry out their job on and around sites, and there are different cards for different occupations. Applicants for CSCS cards need to demonstrate they have been appropriately trained and have the right qualifications before they are issued with one. You can have a look at the card finder on the CSCS website to identify which type of card is relevant to you, and the appropriate CITB Health, Safety, and Environment test which needs to be taken and passed prior to any card applications.

To successfully gain a CSCS card an applicant needs to be able to prove that they have achieved a nationally recognised qualification (NVQ) in a construction related skill. Rhino Training offers a variety of qualifications to support your application, please contact us for information and advice on how to apply for the correct card.

How do I renew my CSCS Card?

There are a few simple steps to take to renew your CSCS card. You will need to demonstrate you have the correct training and qualifications needed for your particular job role, and you need to pass the CITB Health Safety and Environment Test, which costs £21 when booked directly with the CITB.

The type of test you do and the qualifications you need to demonstrate will depend on which CSCS card you are applying for. This, in turn, will depend on your qualifications, job role, and any professional body membership you might have. If, therefore, you change job role, you will need to seek advice as you might need to change your CSCS card. Use the CSCS cardfinder to check which card and test are right for you.

You can order your card directly with the CSCS Contact Centre on 0344 994 4777.  Please ensure you have a credit or debit card to pay £36 for the CSCS card and any details of your current or previous employer’s.

Please note that CSCS cards can only be renewed 6 months prior to the expiry date and up to 6 months after the expiry date and that the expiry date of the new card will be as if the card was renewed on time.
