Introduction
The CITB SMSTS Refresher is designed for individuals who already hold a valid SMSTS certificate and need to renew their qualification before it expires.
This refresher course ensures that site managers and senior construction professionals remain up to date with current health and safety legislation, industry best practice, and any regulatory changes affecting construction site management. It reinforces key principles while highlighting recent developments in law and guidance.
Who Should Attend?
This course is only for candidates who have completed the CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) 5-Day Course with certification still in date.
Participants should already have some experience in the construction industry and a basic understanding of site operations.
Certification and Career Benefits
The SMSTS certificate must be renewed every five years to remain valid. The refresher course ensures continued compliance and demonstrates ongoing competence in site safety management.
If certification expires, delegates may be required to complete the full SMSTS course again rather than the refresher.
Assessment
At the end of the 2-day course, delegates complete a multiple-choice examination. The test is based on the course content covered throughout the training and is structured to assess knowledge of legislation, risk management, site control measures, and managerial responsibilities.
The assessment is timed and completed under exam conditions. Delegates must achieve the required pass mark to successfully obtain certification.
